Crime Stoppers

Founded in 1984, McAllen Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping our community safe by empowering citizens to report crime anonymously. Since our founding, we have helped law enforcement recover stolen property, seize narcotics, and bring thousnds of criminals to justice — all while protecting the identity of those who come forward.

How It Works

McAllen Crime stoppers operates on three pillars: community, media, and law enforcement. Our 16-member volunteer board oversees the program, manages reward payments, and works closely with local police. Tips are publicized regularly through local media, and our 24/7 anonymous tip line — 956-687-TIPS — connects callers directly with investigators. Callers are never asked for their name and are assigned a code number to protect their identity. If a tip leads to an arrest, the caller qualifies for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
