McAllen Police Department along with state and federal agencies seize contraband that imitates other commercially available candy. It has been determined the products are laced with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The seizure of these products occurred on Friday February 15, 2019 at a residence in the area of 25th Street and Lindberg Ave. McAllen, Texas.

The department is taking the opportunity to inform the public about this type contraband that imitates commercially available candy and is laced with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a cannabinoid identified in cannabis (marijuana). THC is the principal active constituent of cannabis.

The concern is elevated for reasons that:
1. The product seized is designed to imitate other commercially available candy products; and
2. The packaging of these products is, in our view, targeted at children.

Parents should be aware these products are NOT “candy”, they are laced with harmful drugs and these seizures indicate that they may be in our area.
